Diamond Foundry • Eco-Friendly Diamonds Made in California

Did you know a company in the Bay Area is creating real diamonds in a lab, with zero carbon footprint? Diamond Foundry asked us to help explain their astonishing technology in a highly visual video for their website. Each stone begins with a "seed" (a thin slice of diamond) which contains the atomic blueprint for the rest of the crystal to grow. Their process mimics the way in which diamonds form in the Earth, with temperatures matching the surface of the Sun. After a few weeks, a rough stone emerges. The stone is cut and polished in the same way as Earth stones. The resulting gems are identical, yet they bear none of the social or environmental costs of traditional mining.
